Hank Snow Played Here

A 'character house', built by Sydney Morash after 1905 and sold to master mariner Clarence Corkum in 1912 for the sum of $1,375. The total of a home's character includes the notoriety if its past owners, notably "Sparky Schwartz", known to exhibit her athleticism diving from topmast into Lunenburg harbour -crowds in attendance, and attracting as significant a crowd when her cousin, Hank Snow, broke into impromptu concert from the front verandah on warm summer evenings. Today the house is surrounded by a tidy garden, has a single car garage attached to the rear of house and offers an enclosed patio-courtyard with garden to one side, easy to care for, basked in the afternoon sun, and paved in concrete cobblestones past the gate to the drive. Recent upgrades include: the reconstruction of the front verandah, new wiring and electrical entrance, new windows, new baths, new oak hardwood on the main floor, fresh painting and decoration, roof re-shingled and professional landscaping. Located on a very quiet corner at the edge of the historic district, amidst other historic architecture, and with glimpses of back harbour, a short walk to town amenities.
